Can I have a beard transplant?
As beards have become a more popular style choice over the past few years, beard enhancement has become significantly more popular as well. Facial hair transplant can be used to fill in areas with minimal to no beard growth or in areas where a little more density is desired. Whether you’re looking to grow a full “lumberjack beard” or just enhance a “3-day scruff”, a facial hair transplant can help you achieve those goals.
Where is the hair obtained from for my beard?
As with hair transplants in general, the grafts for a beard enhancement are obtained from the back and sides of the scalp. The donor area is assessed for coarseness, wave and curl and the area used is that which most closely matches the facial hair.
How are the grafts obtained for beard hair transplant?
The grafts can be obtained by either the follicular unit transplant method (FUT) whereby a small strip of scalp is removed or the FUE procedure where the grafts are removed individually. In either situation, only one or two hair grafts are used in order to most closely approximate the natural look and growth of a beard. When healed, the transplanted hair can be shaved, trimmed, grown or styled just as you would other facial hair.
