Whether cis or trans, the shape of a hairline and the absence or presence of facial hair are two of the defining characteristics that contribute to a more masculine or feminine appearance. For transgender patients, wherever you are in the transition process, we offer several options to alter and enhance these characteristics.
Transgender Women
For transgender women, two procedures can be used in order to create a more feminine look; scalp advancement and hair transplant surgery. With scalp advancement, the front of the scalp is loosened and brought forward resulting in a lower hairline. This can then be followed by a hair transplant to hide any scars and soften the hairline. In cases where scalp advancement isn’t feasible, needed or desired, a hair transplant procedure by itself can create a softer, more rounded hairline that frames the face and gives more feminine styling options.
Transgender Men
For transgender men, a beard transplant is an option. This procedure can be used to augment density if some beard growth is present from hormone therapy or to create a beard in those individuals with minimal growth or choosing not to take hormones. For a beard transplant, the hair is taken from the back of the head and transplanted to the face. A beard can be created using either the FUE or FUT procedure, depending on the number of grafts and density in the donor area.
Whichever procedure you are considering, the staff at Look Natural Hair Restoration is sensitive to the needs of each individual and provides a caring and supportive environment for every patient.
